The annual Kiddie Kapers Parade, in its 82nd year, will take place on Saturday July 14^th as the lead in to the Colmo del Rodeo Parade. Kids will line up at the main Salinas High School parking lot starting at 5pm and the parade will start at 6:30pm. Theme and more information to be announced soon.

The Colmo Parade will grace the streets of Old Town Salinas and commemorate what was once the greatest parade of the West on Saturday July 14th! As the California Rodeo was first produced in 1911, so was the first informal night parade.  The parade was organized by local townsfolk, and included decorated automobiles that would drive down Main St. Salinas to wrap up Big Week festivities.  Later in 1913 the parade was formalized. At this time the "Colmo del Rodeo" was recognized as the largest and greatest night-lighted parade west of the Mississippi. Visit www.carodeo.com for entry forms and more information.

The Professional Bull Riders Touring Pro Event starts at 7pm (gates open at 5pm); The toughest sport on earth comes to Salinas for the 12^th consecutive year on Wednesday July 18^th. The 102^nd California Rodeo Salinas will take place July 19^th-22^nd at the Salinas Sports Complex.

 

The Rodeo will have four action packed performances: 6pm on July 19th and 20^th and 1:15pm on July 21st and 22nd. Top cowboys and cowgirls travel here to compete on some of the best bucking stock in the west. Track entertainment will include trick riders and clown Slim Garner. The California Rodeo and David Drew Productions are proud to bring you country superstar Alan Jackson as he takes his tour to Salinas Municipal Stadium in Salinas, CA on Saturday, July 21st.  Tickets for the show may be purchased starting on Wednesday February 8^th at 10am from the Salinas Sports Complex Box Office at 1034 N. Main Street* in Salinas or by visiting tickets.com. Ticket prices are $35 for General Admission and $75 for VIP tickets plus applicable service fees. The concert gates will open at 6:30pm at Municipal Stadium on Saturday July 21^st following the California Rodeo performance that afternoon. Music will start at 7:30pm; the opening act is still to be determined.

 

Jackson's new single, "So You Don't Have To Love Me Anymore," is at radio now and the video for the song is airing on CMT and GAC.  You can also view the video at http://youtu.be/B7MbZJZ0biQ. The single is from the forthcoming debut album from the joint venture between ACR (Alan's Country Records) and EMI Records Nashville.

 

*The Salinas Sports Complex Box Office will be open from 10am to 6pm February 8^th, 9^th and 10^th only to sell concert tickets then will close until 10am on April 2^nd. After April 2^nd, the Box Office will be open Monday-Friday from 10am to 6pm for ticket sales for the Alan Jackson Concert, California Rodeo, Professional Bull Riding and Monster Truck Jam. Concert tickets will be available online continuously starting February 8^th until they sell out.

The 3rd Annual Central Coast Motorsport Spectacular will take place on Sunday, August 12th at the Salinas Sports Complex. This event has grown each year and the 2011 event featured a demolition derby, monster trucks and motorcycle jumpers. Stay tuned for more information about the 2012 event. Ticket info will be announced in late May.
