Visiting Royalty Invitation Entry Form

California Rodeo Salinas – July 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st - 2024

There are three areas of participation:

RODEO GRAND ENTRY – (WALKING) Friday thru Sunday. The California Rodeo Grand Entry is a featured parade in front of the grandstands and a part of each day’s opening ceremonies. Everyone (16 years and older) is encouraged to participate in our grand entry all three days, even if you are not scheduled for the Royalty Run.

ROYALTY RUN - Friday thru Sunday (immediately following the Grand Entry).This is an individual run down from the north end of the track to the south end in front of the main grandstand. A skilled rider and a seasoned horse is a must to participate.

  • You must be at least 18 years of age.
  • We request only one representative from each rodeo or horse association and she must be the top queen, sorry no junior queens or princesses.
  • IN ADDITION (DUE TO TIME CONSTRAINTS) YOU WILL ONLY GET ONE ROYALTY RUN. Please specify your 1st, 2nd or 3rd choice for Friday, Saturday or Sunday. WE WILL TRY TO ACCOMMODATE YOUR FIRST CHOICE, BUT WE MAY HAVE TO USE YOUR 2ND OR 3RD CHOICE ON A FIRST-COME-FIRST-SERVE BASIS.
  • If you are scheduled in the Royalty Run for a specific day, you must also participate in the Rodeo Grand Entry for that day as well.

DOWNTOWN PARADE - Saturday and Sunday only. A Rodeo tradition, the horse parade travels through downtown Salinas and out to the Rodeo Grounds. Be sure to check-in with Parade Staff NLT 10:00 am.

Conduct- The California Rodeo Association reserves the right to excuse any individual from any or all events if she is not exhibiting appropriate behavior while on the rodeo grounds/parade route. In extreme cases, such individual will be asked to leave the grounds.

Safety (while riding)- The California Rodeo Association reserves the right to excuse any individual from any and all events if the individual’s safety or that of others is at risk during a riding event.

Forms: An entry form is required in order to participate. There is no charge for entering. Your entry must be received no later than July 1st, 2024.

Parade Horses: All participants must supply their own horse. No stallions will be permitted. The California Rodeo Association and our stock contractors DO NOT supply horses for queens.

Sponsor Flags- If you are interested in helping with the sponsor flags during the rodeo performances, please contact Andrea at (831)737-5134. To participate you must be at least 16 years old. Andrea will provide you with all information regarding helping with the flags and the requirements you must meet to participate. Spaces may be limited. You may be able to rent stalls on the rodeo grounds through the Sponsor Flag Committee if space permits.

Stall Info: In order to make room for our rodeo contestants, Visiting Queens are asked to contact the Monterey County Sheriff’s Posse Grounds for overnight stabling (less than 5 miles from the Rodeo and only 10 minutes travel time). ALSO***There is a special parking area for day use for parade/grand entry participants near the Rodeo grounds. Look for signage for the Sam Linder Lot, 173 Maryal Drive (accessed only by traveling thru the E. Laurel Dr and Maryal Drive intersection).

Entry Confirmation: We will email you a confirmation of your participation and a map to your destination (rodeo grounds and/or downtown parade start) to confirm your entry. Please expect this information no later than one week prior to the rodeo start date.

DEADLINE: Entry from must be received by July 1st, 2024.

2024 CALIFORNIA RODEO SALINAS RELEASE OF LIABILITY

I acknowledge that horseback riding is a sport which carries inherent risks of injury and damage to myself, my horse and property. I knowingly assume all risks, whether known or unknown, of horseback riding.

I hereby release the California Rodeo Salinas, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as California Rodeo), and the City of Salinas (hereinafter referred to as the City), and the County of Monterey, (hereinafter referred to as the County), from all liability for any act of negligence or want of ordinary care on the part of California Rodeo, and/or the City and/or the County or any of its agents.

In consideration of my participation in events organized or sponsored by I waive, release and discharge California Rodeo, the City, and the County, their directors, officers, agents and members, their representatives, heirs, executors and assigns from any and all claims of liability for injury or damage to myself, my animals or my property arising out of my participation. This agreement is binding upon my executors, heirs and assigns.

I expressly waive any rights I may have under California Civil Code 1542, which states: "A general release does not extend to claims which the creditor does not know or suspect to exist in his favor at the time of executing the release, which if known by him might have materially affected his settlement with the debtor."

I agree that I will indemnify and hold harmless California Rodeo, the City, and the County, their officers, directors, members and agents against all claims, demands, and causes of action, including court costs and actual attorney fees, arising from any proceeding or lawsuits brought by or prosecuted for my benefit, in which this release is upheld.

California Rodeo, and/or the City, and/or the County, its agents or employees shall not be liable for any damage which may accrue from any cause or as a result of fire, theft, mining away, state of health, injury to person, horse or property.

I acknowledge that I have read this Release of Liability and know and understand its contents.

MINORS DO NOT SIGN BELOW LINE

PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN MUST AGREE TOTHIS SECTION

Minors 12 and under must have a parent or legal guardian riding with them.

I, the undersigned parent or guardian of the above participant, in consideration of the minor's participation in the event, agree that the terms and conditions of this Release of Liability and specifically including but not limited to the indemnity set forth above, shall be binding as to damage or injury to my minor, any animals or property involved belonging to the minor arising out of his or her participation.

I acknowledge that I have read this Release of Liability and know and understand its contents.
