More than 15,700 fans filled the Salinas Sports Complex Saturday afternoon for Salute to Military Day, presented by Tanimura & Antle, at the 116th California Rodeo Salinas. Attendance was slightly ahead of last year's Saturday performance as fans enjoyed another exciting day of Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association rodeo action while honoring the men and women who have served our country.
The afternoon began with retired U.S. Army Green Beret James "Guido" Davis skydiving into the arena carrying a giant American flag before another action-packed performance featuring the world's top rodeo competitors. As several events completed additional rounds, the battle for the California Rodeo Salinas championship buckles continued to tighten heading into Championship Sunday.
Current leaders entering Championship Sunday:
- Bareback Riding (Go-Round Leader): Daxtyn Feild, 85.5 points on Korkow Rodeos' Dixie's Gravy
- Steer Wrestling (Average Leader): J.D. Struxness, 12.7 seconds on two head
- Team Roping (Average Leaders): Dawson Graham/Dillion Graham, 26.9 seconds on three head
- Saddle Bronc Riding (Go-Round Leader): Kolby Wanchuk, 87 points on Korkow Rodeos' Frenemies
- Tie-Down Roping (Average Leader): Haven Meged, 19.1 seconds on two head
- Barrel Racing (Average Leader): Hayle Gibson-Stillwell, 48.16 seconds on three head
- Bull Riding (Go-Round Leaders): TJ Gray on Four Star Rodeo's Stranger Danger and Jace Trosclair on Corey & Lange Rodeo's Uncorked, 89.5 points

The 116th California Rodeo Salinas concludes Sunday with Crown Royal Day of Champions, when the 2026 California Rodeo Salinas champions will be crowned.
Tickets are still available for Sunday's championship performance and can be purchased online at CARODEO.com or at the Salinas Sports Complex Ticket Office beginning at 10 a.m.
