The California Rodeo Salinas is more than just world-class rodeo—it’s a weeklong celebration packed with family-friendly activities for kids of all ages. Beginning on Friday, July 11th, and running through Sunday, July 20th, families can enjoy various engaging events designed to entertain, inspire, and celebrate the next generation of rodeo fans.
California Rodeo Salinas Carnival
July 11–20, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM daily at 295 Sun Way in Salinas
Presented by Chick-fil-A North Salinas
The week kicks off with the Rodeo Carnival. Admission and parking are only $5 each. Unlimited ride wristbands are available for $30 until July 10th. From July 11th through 20th, wristbands are $35 at the gate. Purchase online at carodeo.com until July 10th or onsite once the carnival is open.

Get Ready to Rodeo at Northridge Mall
July 12, 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Northridge Mall
This free, family-friendly event will feature rodeo-themed fun, including a chance to meet DUDE the Rodeo Mascot, try your hand at dummy roping, spin the prize wheel, and win tickets, swag, and more. Join us near the Round 1 entrance and help us celebrate the start of Big Week in Salinas.

Kiddie Kapers Parade
Sunday, July 13 at 3:00 PM in Salinas City Center
Presented by Bay & Basin Insurance Services
Approximately 1,000 children will parade from the Salinas Recreation Center (320 Lincoln Avenue) to the Steinbeck Center (1 Main Street). This year’s theme is "Once Upon a Rodeo" and will be led by Grand Marshal Jaizel Mendoza, a seven-year-old cancer patient.

Mutton Busting
July 16–20 during Bull Riding and Rodeo performances

McDonald’s Kids Corral
July 17–20, open daily during the Rodeo at the Salinas Sports Complex
No additional fee with Rodeo admission
Open at 5:00 PM Thursday and Friday, and at noon Saturday and Sunday, the Kids Corral features hands-on activities and entertainment for young attendees.

Stick Horse Race

Kids Dummy Roping
Friday, July 18 at approximately 3:30 PM (following slack) in the arena

Open to kids ages 6 to 13. Sign up online by noon on July 18. Participants must bring their own rope. Prizes will be awarded for 1st through 3rd place in each age group.

The 115th California Rodeo Salinas will take place July 17–20, 2025. As a not-for-profit organization, the California Rodeo Association is dedicated to preserving the traditions of the California Rodeo Salinas and the Western way of life while fostering community involvement and cultural heritage. Through its annual Rodeo and year-round operations at the Salinas Sports Complex, the Association supports local nonprofits and community groups.
