CALIFORNIA RODEO SALINAS ANNOUNCES 2020 SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

FOUR HARTNELL STUDENTS RECEIVING FUNDS

The California Rodeo Salinas is proud to award educational scholarships to local students each year. In 2020, the California Rodeo Association will award scholarships to Kyras Headley, Ashton Headley, Angelita Cisneros-Aguilar and Diego Llamas. Requirements to receive scholarships include:

  • Attending Hartnell Junior College
  • Transferring from Hartnell to a University
  • Graduating seniors from a Salinas Valley high school who will be attending Hartnell in the fall may also apply
  • Students must be 17 years of age or older and special consideration is given to Rodeo Committee Members, as well as children or grandchildren of Rodeo Committee Members in good standing

Since 1986, over 75 students have received scholarships from the California Rodeo Association totaling over $85,000. The scholarship program is run through the Hartnell College Foundation. Recipient biographies:

Angelita Cisneros-Aguilar is 19 years old and a recent graduate of Hartnell Community College. She will attend California State University Chico pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Crop and Horticulture that she hopes leads her back to the Salinas Valley where her passion for agriculture started.

Kyras Headley, a California Rodeo volunteer, is 18 years old and just graduated from King City High School. He will attend Hartnell Community College and study agriculture so he can one day be a part of the industry that thrives here in the Salinas Valley.

Ashton Headley, a California Rodeo volunteer, is 18 years old and just graduated from King City High School. After earning his Association of Arts degree at Hartnell Community College he plans to attend San Jose State University to study computer science.

Diego Llamas is a 21 years old Greenfield resident. He recently began attending California State University Monterey Bay after attending Hartnell College. He has plans to become a computer scientist working in software development.
