And it plays and plays…..
In the month of May 2020, the song " QUÉ MALDICIÓN " (Feat. BANDA MS & SNOOP DOGG) is released, this release revolutionized the music industry in Mexico and the world.
“QUÉ MALDICIÓN”, a song that broke with all previously established parameters and that proves, once again, that in a globalized world, music is the best tool to cross borders and explore unknown territories.
Listening to this song, it will be difficult to pigeonhole it into a musical genre, since different musical sounds converge in it, ranging from banda to urban hip hop. Two of the most important and influential musical exponents in their respective genres come together musically to obtain an exceptional result and the song " QUÉ MALDICIÓN " proves it.
The name of the BANDA MS appeared on radio stations, newspapers and television channels in Russia, Spain, Argentina and Colombia, among many others. With this, the banda genre took a step forward in the world music scene, making the MS the forerunner of this great achievement.
This success story begins in 2003 in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, the BANDA MS DE SERGIO LIZÁRRAGA was born, taking the initials of their homeland to give the group its name. The founders of the band managed to combine their ideas and concerns to offer people a different and original product.
Youth, explosiveness, and talent, are the words with which we can currently define the BANDA MS, created by seven teenagers who, after having belonged to other renowned groups, decided to form their own musical organization. For a year and a half, they planned the birth of a new band, they began to take the first steps to make reality, what at that time, were only dreams.
To date, BANDA MS is synonymous with stability and international projection. Always with firm objectives, the group has earned the nickname of "the highest grossing band,” a slogan that reflects the work that has been carried out over more than 15 years of musical career.
Their first record production was released in 2004 and was titled "NO PODRÁS", from this album the singles came off: "No podras" and "La suata", both authored by vocalist Oswaldo Silvas. In this same year Alan Manuel Ramírez Salcido joined the band, with the aim of offering the public a musical variety mixing two exceptional voices.
A year later, they released the album “MI MAYOR ANHELO” whose first single was the song “Ayer la vi por la calle.” From this album the popular theme was also released: “Mi mayor anhelo,” with which the BANDA MS DE SERGIO LIZÁRRAGA receives the award for "Best theme of the year" awarded by an important Mazatlán radio station.
In 2006 "LA RAZA CONTENTA" was released, in which only corridos were included, highlighting the hits "El 24" and "Chuy y Mauricio.” In 2007 their next production titled “ESCUELA DE RANCHO” came out, from which the song “El mechón” came off, a song that became a success and was a turning point in their career.
To date, BANDA MS DE SERGIO LIZÁRRAGA has received multiple awards and recognitions in Mexico and the United States. Proud representatives of the music of Sinaloa, the group has become an ambassador that through the sound of the tuba and drum has crossed borders, always carrying the name of Mexico very high, endorsed the well-earned title of "the highest grossing band".
In 2017 BANDA MS decides to do something different, creating their own reality show. This series is entitled “HERMOSA EXPERIENCIA.” The first phase consists of 15 episodes, each of them with an approximate duration of 7 minutes. This reality show has the fundamental characteristic of including totally unpublished content.
In 2018, innovating again, the MS includes in its musical performance an acoustic segment in which it is made up of instruments that are not usually used in a Sinaloa band crew, such as the piano, the soprano sax and a "bugle.” Additionally, there is also a segment where the sound of the accordion is incorporated into the band, thereby creating a special atmosphere.
The BANDA MS DE SERGIO LIZÁRRAGA has distinguished itself since its inception for being different. The group has chosen to wear some of its performance costumes with numbers that distinguish each of its members. The meaning has reference to data such as birthdays and anniversaries.
The 17 musicians that currently make up this musical organization are fully aware that when things are done with faith and conviction, the results will always be positive. 14 years have passed, and much progress has been made, but there is still a long way to go.
Today the group not only represents Sinaloa music but has also become a representative of part of our culture and our folklore. Every day the responsibility is greater, but also day after day the satisfactions are greater. "We are a group like any of today's well-known bands, but with a different interpretation style, so as not to sound like the others and thus be able to stand out from the competition."
“When the boys and I started this musical project, we dreamed of living what we are now living. But what we never imagined was that we would achieve it in such a short time; stepping on the stages we have stepped on and being where we are at this moment. We know we have a long way to go but everything went beyond our expectations. I saw myself with a good band, playing well, working... but not like what we have achieved so far”.
