COWBOYS WEREN'T THE ONLY WINNERS DURING BIG WEEK
Rodeo contests delighted fans and local businesses
SALINAS, CA - July 21, 2010-Congratulations once again to the Salinas City Elementary School District Office and La Belle Époque for coming out on top during the Rodeo's annual window decorating contest. Both businesses participated and won the contest in 2009. The Salinas City Elementary School district enlisted local children in their programs to make 100 boots, 100 hats, 100 horses and more hand drawn pictures to decorate their numerous windows, all with a Tough Enough to Wear Pink theme. They also incorporated rodeo advertising posters into their design. La Bell Époque's décor was reminiscent of an old fashion saloon complete with vintage bottles, mannequins and more and won for best western window decorations. Each business received tickets to attend the Thursday July 15th performance of the 100th California Rodeo Salinas. Thank you to the other participating businesses that filled out forms to compete in our contest: Gold Leaf Spice & Teas, Farmers Produce and Beck's Shoes.
Other winners of online contests enjoyed rubbing elbows with bull riders after the Professional Bull Riding event on July 14th, VIP tickets to the Dwight Yoakam concert on Saturday July 17th, and on Sunday July 18th, Damon Gross went home from the Rodeo with a diamond valued at almost $4000 after participating in the Diamond Dig. The Rodeo Association is currently running an online contest to win 2 tickets to the 1st Annual Central Coast Motorsport Spectacular on August 1st and in 2011 will continue to use these contests as promotional tools for events. The California Rodeo Salinas will take place July 21-24, 2011.
