Not Your Ordinary Tasting: the Crown Jewel Whisky Tasting is back as part of the Rodeo's Centennial Celebration

SALINAS, CA February 23, 2010 - The California Rodeo Salinas was pleased to welcome back Crown Royal Canadian whisky as the official spirit sponsor of the California Rodeo Salinas in 2009 and they are back in 2010 to support the Rodeo in its 100th year. The partnership was a great success in 2009 with a newly painted Saloon, a signature cocktail contest, giveaways by the Crown Royal Girls during the Rodeo and a sold out whisky tasting last March. The saloon tasting event sold out in less than a week and 100 lucky guests had the chance to listen to Senior Master of Whisky, Steve Beal, teach about the properties of 4 tiers of Crown Royal Canadian whisky. Steve Beal, who is also a writer and chef, who has 12 years of experience as a luxury brand ambassador, educator and trainer and is a broadcast personality appearing weekly with Guy Fieri and Marcy Smothers and on many national programs. He will lead a unique tasting of four tiers of whisky: Crown Royal, Crown Royal Reserve, Crown Royal Cask No. 16 and Crown Royal Extra Rare (XR), a limited edition blend and rare piece of Crown Royal history.

The 2010 Crown Jewel Tasting will be held on Friday April 16th in the Salinas Sports Complex Mall and is limited to 250 people. The event starts at 7pm with a formal, sit-down tasting from 7:30 to 8:30 with light food parings preset on every table. After 8:30, guests can get up and mingle and visit food stations while they wait for the band, The Wild Turkeys, to start at 9pm. The event will end at midnight. The cost is $40 per person or $75 per couple and includes a formal tasting, two cocktails and live music. Make your reservation by calling 831-775-3100.
