California Rodeo Starts New Year with New Leaders

California Rodeo Salinas Announces New Officers and Director 

SALINAS, CA -January 7, 2010 The California Rodeo Salinas is starting the New Year with a new President, Director and Officer to assist with leadership of the Association. Craig Andrus, a Salinas native, took over in late October and will guide the organization and volunteers for the 100th Rodeo in 2010 and the 101st Rodeo in 2011. Craig's family has volunteered and competed at the Rodeo since the 1920's. He is a farmer here in Salinas and lives on his ranch with his wife, Vicki.

Assisting Craig with decision-making and execution of tasks will be 1st Vice President Benny Jefferson, 2nd Vice President Daryl Whitcher, 3rd Vice President Mike Scarr along with Treasurer Ric Causley and Secretary Randy Parola, the newest Officer of the Association. A Director since 1995, Randy is the former Chairman of the Concessions and Carnival Committees and currently oversees the Bull Crossing Cantina at the Rodeo.

Long-time Rodeo volunteer Sam Jenkinson is now a Director of the California Rodeo Salinas. Sam has volunteered on the Ground Preparation Committee for over 20 years, working year-round on several events at the Salinas Sports Complex. Sam's sons Sammy, Mathew and Nick are also volunteers. Sam lives in Salinas with his wife, Pam.

The California Rodeo Salinas will celebrate 100 Years of Tradition July 15-18, 2010. The California Rodeo Association is a non-profit organization that strives to preserve and promote the traditions of the California Rodeo Salinas and the West. We support the community and other non-profit organizations through the staging of the annual California Rodeo Salinas and other year round operations of the Salinas Sports Complex. Through donation of our facility, vending and fundraising opportunities during Rodeo and other events, the California Rodeo Association returns over $200,000 annually to local non-profits.
