SALINAS June 23, 2009 – The 99th California Rodeo Salinas will feature the talents of Tomas Garcilazo, a World Famous Mexican Charro and Rope Artist. You can get a sneak peak of what is in store this Friday June 26th at Rabobank in the Westridge Shopping Center in Salinas. Tomas and his beautiful stallion, Hollywood, will be present at 1285 N. Davis Road from 11am to 1pm debuting some of their crowd-pleasing skills. Rabobank is presenting Tomas Garcilazo and is a Gold Sponsor of the 99th California Rodeo Salinas. 

Tomas, a native of Mexico City, was introduced at an early age to his family heritage and tradition of “La Charria” which is a skill performed through the generations only by the Mexican Charro.   He has performed throughout Europe, Canada, the U.S and Mexico.  Tomas was also a featured performer for two years at Disney’s Wild West Show in Paris, France plus the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show touring Holland and Germany.  Tomas has performed numerous times for Mexico’s Presidents along with guest performances at the U.S. White House and Washington’s Kennedy Center. 

Tomas resides in southern California and continues to share his legacy with audiences at rodeos, stock shows and equine events internationally.  Tomas will dazzle audiences during all four performances of the 99th California Rodeo Salinas with rope artistry, his beautiful stallion, Hollywood, who is ridden without a bridle, acts that will include his young son, Tomas Junior, and more. Each day of rodeo performances will be unique.  Tomas Garcilazo’s proficiency as a skilled horseman and rope artist defines him as one of the finest Charros presenting La Charria today.



The California Rodeo Salinas will celebrate 99 Years of Rodeo July 16-19, 2009. The California Rodeo Association is a non-profit organization that strives to preserve and promote the traditions of the California Rodeo Salinas and the West. We support the community and other non-profit organizations through the staging of the annual California Rodeo Salinas and other year round operations of the Salinas Sports Complex.
