Introducing the Miss Califiornia Rodeo Salinas 2009 Contestants

SALINAS June 16, 2009 – The California Rodeo Salinas is pleased to announce that eight lovely and talented young women are vying for the 2009 Miss California Rodeo Salinas title.  This year’s contestants are: Sara Friesen, Miss Merced Horsemen’s Association, Jessica Lynn Haynie, Miss Mother Load Roundup, Darla Rae Iverson, Miss Truckee Rodeo, Samantha Lozano, Miss Rodeo Tehachapi, Shannon McPhee, Miss Redding Rodeo, Claire Plemmons, Miss Salinas Valley Fair, Brittany Slaton, Miss Clovis Rodeo and Brittany Voss, Miss Rodeo Creston.

The contest consists of two days of competition where the contestants will be judged on their horsemanship, personality, appearance and scholastics.  The contest winner will not only receive the coveted Miss California Rodeo Salinas 2009 title, but will also receive a $2,500 cash scholarship, gold and silver trophy belt buckle, a gold and silver tiara, the use of a two-horse trailer for one year and many other lovely gifts.  During her reign, Miss California Rodeo will travel to rodeos, parades and other promotional events as an official ambassador of the California Rodeo Salinas.

During the opening night of the 2009 California Rodeo Salinas, Thursday, July 16th, Miss California Rodeo Salinas 2008, Blair Smittcamp, along with Rodeo President, John Cunha will present the new Miss California Rodeo Salinas 2009. The California Rodeo Salinas will celebrate 99 Years of Rodeo July 16-19, 2009. The California Rodeo Association is a non-profit organization that strives to preserve and promote the traditions of the California Rodeo Salinas and the West. We support the community and other non-profit organizations through the staging of the annual California Rodeo Salinas and other year round operations of the Salinas Sports Complex. Through donation of our facility, vending and fundraising opportunities during Rodeo and other events, the California Rodeo Association returns over $240,000 annually to local non-profits.
