What better way to help kick off Big Week than a bunch of cowboys telling cowboy stories while attendees sip wine and eat barbecue? The California Rodeo is pleased to announce the 2014 Cowboy Music & Poetry Gathering to be held Sunday July 13th at Sherwood Hall.
We are also excited to have Dave Stamey headlining in 2014.
Cowboys and Indians Magazine has called him the Charley Russell of Western Music. Dave Stamey has been a cowboy, a mule packer, a dude wrangler, and is now one of the most popular Western entertainers working today. He has been twice voted Entertainer of the Year, three times Male Performer of the Year and twice Songwriter of the Year by the Western Music Association, and received the Will Rogers Award from the Academy of Western Artists. He ís delighted audiences in fourteen states, and finds that he prefers this to being stomped by angry horses.
Doors open at 1:00pm, there will be a barbeque available for purchase, tickets are $10. Attendees can also taste wine and receive a souvenir wine glass for $10. The cowboy poetry starts at 1:45pm with an open mic session, and tickets for this portion of the event are $30. The tickets can be purchased at the Salinas Sports Complex Box Office Monday-Friday 10am-6pm (1034 N. Main Street, Salinas, CA), 800-549-4989. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Foundation for Monterey County Free Libraries.
